The sauce served fish Florentine is what makes it special. It requires cream cheese with some parmesan cheese and a spinach in it. This combination with a white fish is what makes it taste heavenly.
The recipe was an idea from internet. Which includes parmesan, butter, oil and cream cheese. This what makes the sauce to lighten up and makes the dish 10x better.
COOKING TIPS
- Any white fish fillet would do the work for this recipe. I specially asked my fishmonger for the firm fresh fillet. I used Halibut, but any bon less white fish would do the work.
- Check the time before cooking it so you would have an idea when to stop.
- Don’t cook a very fresh fish. Wait for a day or two and then cook it or it will just break and would be a mess.
- You can also have your hand on a frozen fish.
- Skinnytaste Fish Florentine are actually very easy to handle. You can defrost it in a water bath or by putting it in a fridge.
- You can go for any protein if you don’t like. Any protein would work and hopefully would give the best results.
FREEZER TIPS
Here is a pro tip, if you have leftovers then you can put it in a fridge for 2 days or put it in an air tight container and freeze it for more than 2 months. Whenever you crave for it take it out and microwave it for 2-3 minutes and there you have a fancy restaurant styled fish fillet at your home.

Recipe of Skinnytaste Fish Florentine
Here is the recipe of Skinnytaste Fish Florentine:
Ingredients:
- A white fish piece
- Olive oil 2tbps
- Salted butter 2tbps
- 1 bell pepper finely chopped
- 2 garlic cloves chopped
- 1 cup finely chopped spinach
- A quarter cup cream cheese (can add more accordingly)
- A quarter cup half & half cream
- Parmesan cheese (grated)
- Salt according to taste
- Black pepper according to taste
Instruction:
- Put a large pan over medium flame.
- Add 1 tbsp of olive oil and 1tbsp of butter
- Add chopped garlic and bell pepper and cook it until you get the smell of garlic for about 4-5 minutes.
- Now add spinach in it. Let it set down.
- Add salt and pepper according to your taste.
- Add parmesan cheese, half & half cream and cream cheese.
- Mix it until you get the perfect consistency.
- Now take another pan.
- Put 1tbsp butter and 1tbsp olive oil.
- Now add salt and pepper on both sides of the fish to season it. Season is generously and put it on the pan.
- Cook each side for 5-6 minutes until medium brown. Do not overcook it.
- Put it in a plat and pour the spinach white sauce on it. Or you can put spinach sauce in a plate and then put the fish piece on it.

Dairy Free Fish Florentine
Some people have lactose intolerance and cannot eat dairy products. Don’t worry I got you with a dairy free fish Florentine recipe. The taste would be great as the above one but there would be no dairy products.
Ingredients:
- A white fish piece
- Olive oil 2tbps
- Salted butter 2tbps
- 1 bell pepper finely chopped
- 2 garlic cloves chopped
- 1 cup finely chopped spinach
- 1-2 tomatoes finely chopped
- Salt according to taste
- Black pepper according to taste
- A quarter cup unsweetened coconut milk
- A quarter cup chicken broth
- Whole Flour 2-3tbsp
- Fresh lemon juice 1-2tbsp
Instruction:
- Put a large pan over medium flame.
- Add 1tbsp of olive oil and 1tbsp of butter
- Add chopped garlic and bell pepper and tomatoes, cook it until you get the smell of garlic for about 4-5 minutes.
- Add whole flour and mix it with vegetables.
- Now add spinach in it. Let it set down.
- Add salt and pepper according to your taste.
- Add coconut milk, chicken broth and lemon juice and mix it with the vegetables until it is all thick and consistency should be not too thick nor too thin.
- Now take another pan.
- Put 1tbsp butter and 1tbsp olive oil.
- Now add salt and pepper on both sides of the fish to season it. Season is generously and put it on the pan.
- Cook each side for 5-6 minutes until medium brown. Do not overcook it.

Fish Florentine with Parmesan Crumbs
Ingredients:
- A white fish piece
- Olive oil 2tbps
- Salted butter 2tbps
- 1 bell pepper finely chopped
- 2 garlic cloves chopped
- 1 cup finely chopped spinach
- A quarter cup cream cheese (can add more accordingly)
- A quarter cup half & half cream
- Parmesan cheese (grated)
- Salt according to taste
- Black pepper according to taste
- Bread crumbs
Instruction:
- Put a large pan over medium flame.
- Add 1tbsp of olive oil and 1tbsp of butter
- Add chopped garlic and bell pepper and cook it until you get the smell of garlic for about 4-5 minutes.
- Now add spinach in it. Let it set down.
- Add salt and pepper according to your taste.
- Add parmesan cheese, half & half cream and cream cheese.
- Mix it until you get the perfect consistency.
- Preheat the oven at 380 degrees
- In an oven plate take your fish.
- Combine it with bread crumbs and parmesan cheese.
- Season it evenly on both sides with salt and black pepper.
- Put it in the oven for 15 minutes until cheese melts and fish gets a golden brown color.
- Take it out put it on the sauce and serve it with garlic bread or anything you like.
